Client Session ~ Aspen, Dakota, Emilee and Brandon

Welcome to my first official session with both dogs, and children! When Michelle asked me if I would be interested in a photo session with her two dogs and her twins, I did warn her that I am much better with dogs than with children, however she was happy to just let me do my thing. Just what I like to hear! It may be a slightly unconventional child session but I’m sure Michelle was prepared for that.

The dogs first – Aspen is a 9 month old Japanese Spitz and his big sister Dakota is a 15 month old Samoyed. Both are bright white, incredibly soft and fluffy with brown eyes, but that’s where the similarities end. These two have very different personalities with Aspen the more outgoing of the two and Dakota with her sweet, laid back temperament.

My favourite shot of the two of them.

Now on to the children! Emilee and Brandon are 11 year old twins and two absolutely gorgeous kids. I can see where they got their looks from their mother and I am assuming dad is pretty handsome too! With quite different personalities, they were a joy to work with. I think this shot sums up the pair of them quite well.

Both of them were very confident kids and made it easy for me to get some fun shots like these.

We had heaps of fun on the play equipment in the park.

Miss Emilee was quite the little professional model.

You can definitely see the twin resemblance in these shots.

Finishing off with a fun shot of Brandon and his buddy Aspen.

This was the first of three sessions I did while in Sydney. Expect to see many more gorgeous doggies (including two Great Danes for the fans out there) over the coming couple of weeks.

Great Dane Championship Show – Sydney 2009

Over the long Easter weekend I headed down to Sydney for a very busy few days of photo sessions (coming soon) and lots of Great Danes! On Good Friday we headed to the Royal Easter Show to see the Great Dane judging, however they switched the schedule around and put the Danes on first, meaning we arrived too late to see them.

I wasn’t too worried however as the Great Dane Club of NSW held their bi-annual Championship Show on the Sunday which I had the pleasure of photographing. So many beautiful dogs made my job super easy and I thought I would share a few of my favourites.

A couple of gorgeous mantles (bostons in the USA).

I love this moment between this big baby boy and his ‘mummy’.

A cute little blue girl from the same breeder as my Luna, see any family resemblance?

img_5090

She is such a bright, alert girl and totally up for a cuddle when I went to say hello later on.

Big blue boy with the most lovely quiet personality (excuse the tongue out, it was quite a warm and steamy day).

Fawns always outnumber the other colours and this show was no exception. This boy took out Best in Show.

The structure and look of a Great Dane’s head is quite an important aspect of judging and is something the judge pays careful attention to.

This fawn female took out the honours in the special class of Best Head. Although the cropping of ears is illegal in Australia, handlers will often hold the ears up to enable the judge a better view of the outlines and shape of the head.

One of my favourite fawn girls.

Looking spectacular on the move.

Last up is this beautiful little black girl. What a cutie!

Client Session ~ Mali the Havanese

Mali’s session was a gift from her owner’s daughter (also a client of mine) for Mother’s Day last year. Inspired by her daughter’s Havanese dog, Mali’s owner jumped at the chance to own one of these great little dogs when the opportunity arose – so Mali was quickly integrated into the family!

The bond between Mali and his Mum is obvious the moment you see them together. After a quick couple of shots at home, we headed to the local park and got busy. Mali’s Mum was keen for some shots of the two of them together so we made sure we got plenty of them to choose from.

Mali was a perfect angel off-leash at the park, even resisting the urge to dive in to the lake and chase some ducks, he came straight back when Mum called like a good boy. Keen to show off his jumping ability, a demonstration was arranged for me.
