Friend Session ~ Orbit the Great Dane { Part II }

Orbit the Great Dane’s Mum works at as a vet nurse, and the lucky boy gets to go to work with her every day and hang out at the vet surgery. While I was there with them, I thought Orbit would be a good subject to try out a new lens that I was borrowing from a friend (for camera geeks, it’s the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 with IS) in practice for a shoot later that day.

One of Orbit’s favourite games, chasey around the picnic tables…

It wasn’t long before I caught some sweet moments between Orbit and his Mum…

But he was soon back to being cheeky with his toy.

The longer lens allows me to step back but still focus in on the little details.

Makes everything easy when I have a gorgeous subject (intensely focused on the treats his Mum was holding just out of frame).

  1. Isn’t it an awesome lens? I am so jealous of all your Great Dane subjects!

    Gracie + I always do the forehead to forehead move. That is the sweetest shot ever.

  2. Lens is great! It’s about 3rd down my wishlist though, there are a couple of others I would like more. I also have the 100-300 f4 Sigma so that kind of fills the spot at the moment. Erin – I just happen to know a lot of people with Great Danes! I have to say, they are my most favourite breed of dog to shoot, though I may be a little biased.
