Client Session ~ Cadbury and Jaffa the Poodle x Spaniels (Spoodles)

Dena was lucky enough to score a session as a birthday present from her family for their two pups, Cadbury and Jaffa. She was also lucky enough to score a free Zig Zag in a giveaway I ran on Facebook! Her favourite colour also just happens to be pink, so a pink Zig Zag is perfect for her. So, onto the pups.

These two furry munchkins are sooo alike, so alike in fact that I may have trouble telling the difference here, so I apologise in advance! They are actually brother and sister, though from different litters as it was a repeat breeding. Dena wanted a non-allergenic dog and found a litter of Poodle x Spaniel pups advertised and just fell in love with the puppies and had a to have one, so Cadbury joined the family.

It soon became obvious that one just wasn’t enough, so they contacted the breeder who just happened to have another litter with the same parents available. Jaffa was chosen and brought home and the two became instant best friends.

These guys are just so cuddly and true to their Poodle heritage, they don’t shed hair.

The family had just finished renovating a lovely little BBQ area in their backyard which made for a great backdrop.

I was in love with those Poodly legs! We managed to get them up onto this old bench chair, the textures suited them so well.

How alike are they!

After the serious modelling business in the backyard was over, we headed to the park where the pair had a big run around in all the open space.

Flying tongues and ears were the order of the day!

I can only tell his because of their colour-coded collars, but that’s Jaffa on the left and Cadbury on the right, having a well-earned break from all their running around.

Dena just loves her babies so we had to get a couple of shots of her with them.

What a crazy and fun pair of pups!

Client Session ~ Gus and Inca the Poodle x Golden Retrievers

Gus and Inca’s parents had organised a gift certificate quite a while ago, but with both of them working hard and trying to get their pair of rather furry pups looking good for the camera, it’s taken a while to get their session sorted. I’m happy to wait for when clients are ready though and of course the doggies must look their best! Our session was on a rather cloudy afternoon in the Gold Coast hinterland, what a beautiful location.

They also warned me that Inca especially was lacking a bit of training, so I was surprised to turn up to two rather well behaved and very cuddly pups! Gus (on the right) is the older of the two at 4 years old (Inca is 3) and the biggest as well. He was almost as tall as Luna, and reminded me of her so much when he greeted me at the front door proudly prancing around with a giant stuffed toy. Definitely a Luna moment, I wished I had my camera out at that stage.

These pair are lucky enough to have a massive backyard that runs down a slope into the valley, offering them wonderful spy-vision over the neighbourhood goings-on. Gus especially was forever racing off down the hill to check up on this or the other and patrol his territory!

Inca is more of a follower but still likes to admire the view over the valley. I just loved her curly Poodle tail!

The pair were kind enough to sit beautifully right next to each other for a photo, I didn’t even have to ask! What a pair of naturals!

With melting eyes like these, it seems like modelling would be a good career choice for them.

After they’d let off a bit of steam running around outside patrolling the yard, we moved inside. Coloured furniture can provide interesting backdrops, this grey outdoor wicker chair sets off Inca’s colouring perfectly.

Inside were some red leather couches that I knew would make fantastic props. Gus was quite happy to lay still and model for me.

Inca however needed a bit more coaching on the ’stay’ aspect, we got there in the end though!

As a reward for co-operating with me inside, we headed back outside for some playtime fun. Gus loves his big red Wahu ball.

As well as rolling around on the grass being attacked by Inca!

The end. :)

Client Session ~ Ellie and Luca the Standard Poodles

Ellie and Luca’s devoted parents contacted me wanting some pics of their beautiful pair of Standard Poodles to use for their new business promotional material – why wouldn’t you when you have this pair?

This was my first shoot since Kaya passed away and I was initially nervous, I wasn’t sure how I would handle photographing other people’s happy, healthy dogs so soon after losing my gorgeous girl. It all melted away though once I met the girls and their owners, despite them reminding me so much of the dynamics between my own two dogs.

Ellie was a rescue dog from a puppy mill, nursed back to health and vitality to be the energetic, somewhat ball-obsessed, dog that she is today. Although a little aloof at first, she warmed up to me and by the end of the session I was getting lovely cuddly head hugs.

Such an athletic girl, her feats with the tennis ball were amazing!

Luca, just like my Luna, is the little sister of the pair. At just over one year of age, she’s affectionate, playful and friendly, and just a little bit silly too.

She had these gorgeous fluffy sections on her legs that I just couldn’t get enough of…

Such a sweet girl.

When inside their house, the girls have a special window that they look out of where they can see the comings and goings of the whole backyard.
