2025 NZIPP AUSTRALIAN PROFESSIONAL ANIMAL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR
My Unleashed Education co-founder and biggest supporter, Craig Turner-Bullock, has been hassling me for years to join the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP) and this year, I finally made time to apply and join as an Australian Accredited Professional Photographer.
It was also my first year entering their annual image competition - the IRIS Awards. I entered a bunch of images in the digital Animal category, and one in Documentary. Next year, I’ll print my entries!
I was awarded my very first Gold award in an image competition, which was especially exciting as I was present at the live judging and had the nerve wracking experience of standing up the back, biting my nails, as the image was discussed and challenged up to a Gold Award. I also managed to score a couple of Silver Distinctions, which gave me enough points to be considered as a finalist.
Since Craig and I were there presenting at the NZ Photo Show, we also had tickets to the Gala Awards Dinner. Imagine my complete shock when I was announced as the winner of the 2025 NZIPP Australian Professional Animal Photographer of the Year!

2018 AIPP QUEENSLAND EPSON PET/ANIMAL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR
To celebrate 10 years of business in late 2017, I thought it was high time to join the ranks of Australia’s professional photographers. I was honoured to be quickly approved as an Accredited Professional Photographer with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and in March 2018, I entered my first state-level professional photography awards with four of my favourite outdoor, natural light dog photos.
All four of my images were awarded – one Silver and three Silver Distinctions. I was pretty happy with this achievement alone, but at the awards night I was surprised and delighted to be awarded the 2018 AIPP Queensland Epson Pet/Animal Photographer of the Year!

DOGSTER & CATSTER
I’ve been lucky enough to have quite a few images published in US-based dog and cat magazines – Dogster and Catster – over the last few years. Here’s some of my favourite full-pagers, including three covers which I am very proud of! I was also chosen as the feature photographer for their 2019 calendar, which was a huge honour.
